KZC is looking for a dynamic BIM Director who will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of BIM strategy across the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

The BIM Director will drive innovation in design and construction processes through BIM technologies, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure the organization maximizes the benefits of BIM methodologies. The primary responsibility is to manage and coordinate BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement on all related BIM projects, files, and models, for both our Commercial and Industrial groups. This will include the development of a work plan/roadmap for the development, implementation, and quality assurance checks needed for full BIM integration with KZC projects.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive BIM strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives.
  • Lead BIM initiatives that improve the efficiency and quality of design and construction processes.
  • Support project start-up coordination, helping teams develop strategies for effectively delivering quality documents and setting up each project, ensuring that each one is set up correctly.
  • Prepare and lead deployment strategies for the BIM implementation effort and resource schedules and monitor the performance of internal/external BIM teams.
  • Review the existing BIM standard to prepare amendments as necessary and prepare the SOP for workflow.
  • Review and assess BIM staff performance and prepare review letters, including probationary reviews of the BIM team.
  • Follow through the recruitment process for any BIM hirings and conduct interviews as necessary.
  • Assist in raising the organization’s BIM profile for future business development initiatives.

BIM Management:

  • Responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing BIM standards, workflows, and best practices to ensure efficient BIM delivery of projects.
  • Ensure project teams properly utilize BIM tools and technologies throughout all project phases.
  • Support each project team by managing and creating content library files and templates, creating and enforcing standards, and evaluating project models as necessary.
  • Evaluate the firm’s current workflow, strategies, budgets, projects, staffing, etc. for any upcoming BIM projects.
  • Create an implementation plan (identify team members, project goals, etc.).
  • Manage the 3D BIM models and review model quality and technical content, including clash detection and compliance with the BIM execution plan.
  • Survey buildings and attend sites to ensure all details and existing conditions are captured if necessary.
  • Work closely with quantity surveyors to establish costs and work schedules on projects as required.
  • Work with architects and other design professionals to determine the best-detailed solutions.
  • Develop initial MIDP list for projects in coordination with the technical coordinator.
  • Supervise modeling activities and creation of BIM model components by the BIM modelers.
  • Oversee responses to client reviews and queries about submitted models and packages.
  • Oversee the document controller responsible for managing BIM package issuances.

Collaboration and Coordination:

  • Facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, contractors, internal BIM managers/coordinators, design team, and other stakeholders to integrate BIM into project delivery.
  • Ensure effective communication of BIM processes and expectations across all departments.

Staff Development and Training:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the BIM team, promoting professional development and training.
  • Organize and conduct training sessions for staff to enhance BIM knowledge and skills across the organization.
  • Provide technical orientation/onboarding induction to new hires regarding the BIM process/standards/BIM tools and workflows.
  • Upskill other BIM team members in specific software/programs/systems/standards.

Quality Control:

  • Establish quality control measures to ensure BIM deliverables meet company standards and client expectations.
  • Perform audits and reviews of BIM models to ensure compliance with standards and effective project outcomes.
  • Ensure that BIM execution plans are produced and maintained for each project.
  • Audit the project team and flag non-compliances.

Technological Advancement:

  • Stay up-to-date with emerging BIM technologies, trends, and methodologies.
  • Evaluate and recommend software and tools that enhance BIM capabilities and project delivery.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, and workshops for BIM, bringing back best practices and disseminating the information to appropriate teams.

Project Oversight:

  • Provide oversight on BIM execution plans for projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality, identifying any issues related to BIM implementation.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Foster relationships with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to promote BIM services and capabilities.
  • Communicate the benefits and advantages of BIM to clients and project teams.
  • Work with the BD team to ensure compliance with BIM RFP requirements.
  • Report to the CEO for any Revit-related matters and act as the liaison between the outsourcing or internal team.
  • Lead meetings to identify project tasks and resolve issues.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Oversee the integration of data management initiatives within BIM processes for improved decision-making.
  • Analyze project performance data to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Provide regular BIM reports/presentations for management overview.
  • Prepare, review, and endorse any required external services; prepare contracts for any parties involved in BIM.
  • Drive the implementation of digital information plans and strategies.
  • Complete supply chain assessments.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Comprehensive experience in Hospitality projects is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in BIM management or similar roles, with demonstrable leadership experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of BIM software (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360, modeling standards, and CAD).
  • Extensive knowledge of design and construction processes and protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong administrative skills, timely project completion, record keeping, monthly reporting, time management, and organizational skills.
  • A passion for the design industry, motivation, and a team player attitude.
