A leading plastic-based company are now looking for a Blown Film Extrusion Operator to join their team due to recent growth and expansion.

The role and responsibilities:

  • Responsible to set and operate the extrusion machines to produce the film specification specified in the job sheet.
  • Obtain the correct raw materials, polymers, additives, cores, pallets, labels, wrapping and banding as specified on the job specification sheet and required to efficiently carry out the job.
  • Keep all blenders and extruders supplied with correct materials and load into bulk bins.
  • Monitor the performance of the extrusion machine ensuring maximum output is achieved at all times.
  • Carry out efficient job change overs ensuring machine downtime and scrap meets minimum targets.
  • Operate the extrusion machines to their optimum output without compromising on safety or quality.
  • Report any machine maintenance issues to your line manager or supervisor.
  • Move palletised goods to warehouse using fork lift truck.
  • Collect polys etc from warehouse.
  • Record the volume of scrap produced during the extrusion process for each job using the job sheet provided.
  • Report any near misses by following the near miss protocol.
  • Assist with the cleaning maintenance schedule for the extrusion department.
  • Segregate scrap and store in the designated areas.
  • On completion of a job, re-label and check the raw materials back into stock.

Requirements:

  • Experience within the same position.
  • Knowledge around the packaging industry.
  • Fork lift driving experience (license not needed).
