This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career in forensic accounting and valuations and gain hands-on experience across a varied portfolio of assignments. You’ll work closely with experienced members of the team, supporting financial analysis, investigations, valuations and the preparation of client reports.
Our Forensics team works on a diverse range of assignments, supporting solicitors, businesses, individuals and other organisations across both civil and criminal matters. You’ll have the opportunity to work with financial information and develop your ability to analyse, interpret and communicate complex financial data in a clear and meaningful way.
About the role
You’ll gain exposure to a range of work, including financial analysis, business valuations, investigations and Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) work, giving you the opportunity to build valuable technical and commercial skills. Kreston Reeves’ Forensics specialists work on matters including fraud investigations, loss of profits and earnings claims, commercial disputes, matrimonial matters and POCA confiscation work.
You will also support the team with administrative work including billing, maintaining sales opportunities, onboarding clients and drafting engagement letters.
What you'll be doing
Assignment & Workflow Management
- Support the delivery of forensic accounting and valuation assignments across the service line.
- Analyse financial statements, management accounts and other financial information to support client assignments.
- Analyse bank statements and other financial records for use in investigations and POCA work.
- Assist with the preparation of forensic reports, schedules and supporting documentation.
- Prepare client onboarding documentation and ensure relevant information is complete and accurate.
- Manage your workload effectively, ensuring assignments are completed within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Follow Kreston Reeves’ service line procedures and quality standards, escalating issues to the appropriate Manager where required.
- Assist with departmental billing and maintaining the team’s sales pipeline
- Act as a point of contact for clients and internal stakeholders on elements of assigned work.
- Liaise with colleagues across Kreston Reeves to obtain relevant financial and client information.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
- Support Managers and senior team members in delivering a high-quality client experience.
What we're looking for
You’ll ideally have:
- An accounting or finance background (either via experience or studies), with a good understanding of financial statements.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with good attention to detail.
- The ability to investigate information, identify inconsistencies and draw logical conclusions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft office skills including Excel.
- The ability to organise your workload and work to deadlines.
- A professional and confidential approach when dealing with sensitive client information.
- A willingness to learn and develop specialist forensic accounting knowledge.
- The ability to work collaboratively while also taking ownership of your own responsibilities.
