A fresh and rewarding vacancy has arisen at a long-established, franchised main dealer in Exeter. The business is part of a privately-owned dealer group, representing a host of well-known, quality automotive brands. They are looking for a Workshop Controller to be the main interface between a team of skilled Technicians and the front of house service reception at their Light Commercial Vehicle facility.

Amongst your main responsibilities, you will be ensuring that each day's workload is completed as efficiently as possible, ensuring good communications between all parties. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will also be responsible for several key workshop functions, including supervising the technical team's performance/progress and organising rotas.

A summary of your key activities/responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the Workshop support team.
  • Carry out regular reviews to identify operational issues/discrepancies and ensure appropriate follow up actions are taken to rectify.
  • Manage the performance of the department.
  • Manage and plan workshop resources to ensure that work can be completed as per schedule.
  • Identify and forward order parts for planned workshop activity.
  • Support the sales team to ensure cars (pre-sale) are ready for handover.
  • Hold regular production meetings to plan workload and resources.
  • Anticipate production problems based on forward plan/resources and provide support to handle workload.

To be considered you MUST have:

  • Previous experience and up to date skills as either a Workshop Controller or Senior Service Advisor.
  • Knowledge of Industry Standards.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong team working leadership skills.
  • Flexible can-do approach.
