Kratos Analytical are global leaders in surface analysis instrumentation. Our XPS systems are installed in leading universities and corporate research centres around the world, working on new materials challenges as diverse as the development of new biomaterials, carbon capture to achieve net zero targets, and EV battery development.
An opportunity exists to join our Customer Support Team at our Manchester HQ as a Customer Support Service Engineer with frequent travel (~50%) to continental Europe, occasionally further afield. The role would suit a customer-facing candidate, comfortable with the operation and maintenance of complex instrumentation and a passion for travel.
Responsibilities
- Execution of customer support contracts and preparation of visit reports.
- On customer site installation of upgrades, delivery of warranty work, ad-hoc maintenance and planned preventative maintenance visits.
- Testing of repaired units before returning to customers.
- Obtaining customer acceptance for all work done.
- Providing customer technical support.
- Providing appropriate customer training.
- Problem and failure reporting, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Completing business records in an accurate and timely manner.
- Supporting other Engineers and Customer Support group as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree level qualification in Electronics, Physics or Mechanical Engineering (with experience and background in scientific instrumentation preferred) - Essential.
Experience
- Knowledge of techniques such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and the ability to demonstrate a background in scientific instrumentation would be a distinct advantage.
