Kraken is hiring a manager to lead the operational backbone of our global tax function. The role sits within Tax reporting to the Head of Tax and is responsible for ensuring that our tax calculations, data flows, and reporting processes are accurate, scalable, and auditâready.
The Opportunity
You will leverage advanced SQL/Python skills to operationalize complex U.S. international tax computations (FDII, GILTI, Subpart F), support crypto costâbasis and financial product tracking, and manage endâtoâend data mapping for OneSource Tax Provision. This is a handsâon Tax Operations leader who ensures that the tax function runs with precision, reliability, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day and long-term operational mechanics of the corporate Tax Platform.
- Develop and operationalize repeatable calculations for FDII, GILTI, Subpart F, and other U.S. international tax and transferâpricing computations.
- Manage digital asset cost basis and inventory tracking, including derivatives and complex financial products.
- Maintain and improve the data pipelines and transformation logic that feed the Tax Provision process.
- Lead OneSource data mapping, data cleansing, and reconciliation workflows.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, Data, and Product teams to ensure tax data integrity across all systems.
- Build SQL/Python automation that reduces manual effort, improves accuracy, and strengthens internal controls.
- Serve as the go-to operations expert for tax data issues, system flows, and reconciliation anomalies.
- Manage crossâfunctional execution for quarterâend and yearâend tax processes.
- Establish controls, documentation, and repeatable processes to support audit and regulatory readiness.
- Provide mentorship to analysts and foster a culture of operational rigor within the tax team.
Required Skills
- 5+ years in corporate tax operations, tax provision, or international tax analytics.
- Working knowledge of FDII, GILTI, and Subpart F.
- Advanced SQL and Python, especially for reconciliation, data transformation, and computational modeling.
- Experience supporting or operating a corporate tax provision process.
- Familiarity with digital asset cost-basis issues, inventory methods, and financial product tax implications.
- Handsâon experience with OneSource Tax Provision (data mapping, imports, validations).
- Ability to translate tax rules into operational logic and scalable processes.
- Strong crossâfunctional communication and comfort working in a fastâmoving environment.
- Attention to detail that balances accuracy with timely execution.
