KRAKEN is a High-End Fashion and Costume Atelier located in the very heart of Hackney, London. Founded and directed by NJAL awarded designer Caterina Schmitt, we specialise in unique bespoke creations for the irreverent unorthodox client. As well as designing RTW and occasion-wear, KRAKEN offers a broad variety of innovative services for LGBT people, musicians, performers and whoever else has the confidence of dressing to pioneer.
Key duties will include:
- Pattern cutting
- Making toiles
- Sourcing materials
- Creating mood-boards
- Technique experimentation
You will assist the Head‑Designer in everyday running of the studio, promotion, and model‑fittings, as well as organising catwalk shows and exhibitions. We are looking for creative, highly skilled, motivated and responsible interns to join our small team, working closely with the Head-Designer for our upcoming collection and other private client commissions.
By interning with us, you can expect to learn about advanced Bespoke processes, Haute Couture techniques, Latex and PVC garment-making. We will help you to think outside of the box, to learn everything it takes to start your own fashion business in London and be an employable individual.
Requirements:
- Flat pattern‑cutting/draping skills
- A basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programmes
- Must be able to sew on an industrial machine
Internship Details: The successful candidate must be available to start immediately and commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week for a period of 3 months.
