A Sales and Proposals Engineer position is now available with my client who are leading manufacturer and supplier of specialist electromechanical plant and automated solutions sold into the automotive industry. Their ideal candidate will have a proven technical sales or proposals background within the automotive industry. This opportunity offers hybrid working. Sales & Proposals Engineer role: Reporting to the Sales Director the successful Sales & Proposals Engineer will be responsible for the following: • Generation of tenders in response to customers enquiries. • Meet customer requirements and expectations are fully understood and considered. • Consider alternative solutions to customer proposals demonstrating appropriate advantages both technically and commercially. • Liaise with Group to obtain the most up to date estimating information, ensuring both the Proposals team and the estimating system are kept up date with the latest information. • Actively explore with customer and suppliers cost effective solutions. • Work with Sales Managers to determine which enquiries we should provide customer quotations for taking into account competitiveness, competency, solution and capacity. • Attend site to review potential projects to ensure all costs are identified and correct solution is proposed. • Develop Plan & Review proposal strategy in conjunction with management team. • Obtain accurate quotations from suppliers selected in conjunction with purchasing. • Produce cost estimate using appropriate format, including internal effort plan, expenses, site set-up and external costs. • Keep abreast of, and contribute to, Group R & D to ensure the best technical and commercial solutions are offered to the customer. • Ensure suitable equipment specification and selection involving liaison with available technical resource and suppliers as required. • Maintain close working relationships with all key customers. • Maintain a customer installed database of existing layouts, schematics, process data. • This role offers hybrid working Sales & Proposals Engineer requirement: • Relevant qualification in an engineering discipline or equivalent level of industry experience • Proven Process plant / capital plant experience • Proven estimating / proposal preparation and presentation development skills • Mechanical engineering knowledge • High level oral and written communication skills • Logical and systematic approach to tasks G • Good problem-solving, organisational skills • Computer literate – proficient in use of Word and Excel • Ability to understand customer requirements and specifications • Good at developing relationships, build trust and confidence with customers • Financial and commercial awareness with ability to review T&Cs • Good influencing and persuading skills • Flexible in hours and location – ability to travel to customer sites (for short periods) • Full UK driving licence Sales & Proposals Engineer package: Salary base of up to £50k (dependant on experience) 23 days holiday + banks hols Private Pension Other attractive benefits offered Career progression
