Due to continued growth, my client is recruiting for an experienced Quality Engineer with heavy castings experience to join their team. My client is a well-established and respected sourcing specialist that partners and works with manufacturers of commodities abroad, supplying parts and components to Original Equipment Manufacturers worldwide.
To be considered for this position, you will ideally have a strong knowledge of heavy metal castings and previous experience solving practical quality issues within overseas factory environments.
The successful Quality Engineer will report to the Technical Manager and be responsible for supporting and implementing business-driven quality initiatives by identifying and driving continuous improvements in manufacturing process capability, capacity, and product quality as well as the following:
- Inspection reports and relevant tests before dispatch to suppliers.
- Working with customers ensuring any problems are dealt with quickly and efficiently.
- Support and develop my client's manufacturing team abroad.
- Implement and reinforce business processes.
- Transfer ISO 9001 processes into abroad-based operation with the aim of achieving certification.
- Working with UK Quality Team to develop processes to better meet the needs of customers and internal processes.
- Improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, heavy metal castings, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors.
- Assuring product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Assisting the factory to develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.
- This role requires some overseas travel to implement and reinforce the identified processes at the manufacturing location.
Quality Engineer requirements:
- Proven experience within an engineering and product development/manufacture environment.
- Previous experience within a quality engineer role relating to heavy metal castings.
- Highly organised and a great partner to the business.
- Enthusiastic and good with people.
- Ready to learn new skills and push for improvement in all areas.
