Job Description

This role oversees the engineering team at Telford site, ensuring equipment effectiveness, OEE improvements, and budgetary control.

The manager plans growth and improvements, manages safety, compliance, and maintenance spend, leads procurement and stock control, and coordinates with CI, capital projects, and outsourced resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver effective equipment maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all engineering tasks are carried out safely and cost‑effectively.
  • Develop and maintain engineering procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure statutory legal inspections are scheduled and completed on time.
  • Utilize SAP and other business systems to develop a planned maintenance strategy and support their enhancement within the engineering function.
  • Manage engineering stock and purchase functions to keep essential spares available while controlling costs.
  • Manage engineering and maintenance spend, identifying cost‑reduction opportunities.
  • Recruit, train, develop, motivate and manage the engineering team.
  • In coordination with the CI manager, identify and implement cost‑saving projects.
  • Participate in capital projects, meeting quality, safety and operational standards.
  • Manage the monthly forecast and updates.
  • Oversee outsourced project management resources to deliver against project milestone plans.

Qualifications

  • Recognized engineering qualification; HNC/HND required, degree desirable.
  • Minimum five years of manufacturing management experience.
  • Financial awareness and business acumen.
  • Effective communication, influencing and networking skills.
  • Effective planning, analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Understanding or qualification in 5S, Six Sigma, or lean thinking is an advantage.
