To proactively manage a multi‐disciplined shift team to maintain all assets within the operational areas, optimise the utilisation of the equipment and deliver maximum volume at the right quality. Working closely with the Management team to utilise the resources available in the most effective and efficient ways, prioritising H&S, Food Safety/Quality at all times. Drive the identification of RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and bring the equipment back into service as quickly as possible, while actively seeking and identifying cost‐effective improvements to site assets and equipment, improving efficiency and reliability. Manage the coordination of the engineering team to provide a proactive mindset and behaviours to minimise downtime in the process area. Ensure alignment with the Operations Manager and process‐area teams, supporting the training and development of equipment/process/area/system owners.

Key Responsibilities

  • This role has direct responsibility for the Engineering aligned craft and the Engineering Asset Technicians (mechanical and electrical).
  • Demonstrate commitment to health and safety. Effective 2‐way communication of health and safety, e.g., at Tier 1, Safety Habit discussions, Safety Habit Observations, Risk Triggers.
  • Knowledge of site hazards and controls, ensuring team are competent for activities and compliant to site Ways of Working, for example through GEMBA's and safety tours.
  • Responsible for food safety and product quality as defined by regulatory, Kraft Heinz and local procedures. It is the jobholder's responsibility to elevate any issues that might compromise food safety and product quality.
  • Leadership during emergency and abnormal situations.
  • Own all aspects of team management, including performance reviews, absence, and time management.
  • Ensure ideal allocation of engineering resources to maximise performance for the site. Make decisions on the deployment of engineering resources based on the priorities for the site.
  • Communicate with other centres and agree where sharing of resources is appropriate to support the overall performance for the site.
  • Own the implementation of Engineering improvement across assets in area of responsibility. A key responsibility will be ensuring that the actions of improvement work are delivered effectively and that the outputs are sustainable through a rigorous review and change control process.
  • Drive the site Reliability agenda: Identification of failure modes and trends, complete root cause analysis (RCA) processes and drive / deliver the agreed actions to deliver key maintenance KPI's.
  • Provide support to and involvement in site Project and Change Initiatives as appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with our daily management systems.
  • Accountable for management of the engineering budget within the financial plan and any spend delivers value for money for the business.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks on SAP system as required and to the correct standard.
  • Lead the review of the previous job completion results, other maintenance activities and amend the current plan to accommodate. Plans should be adjusted accordingly based upon scheduled work.
  • Support the planning, critical information collection, organising and execution of works. Ensure all work is entered in SAP, work orders are signed off and all stores' withdrawals are accounted for.
  • Ensure that business systems such as SAP and MII are being used effectively to develop a planned maintenance strategy. Support the development of these systems within the engineering function.
  • Ensure all corrective notifications are assessed in a timely manner for area of responsibility, ensuring the JIB (job in a box) process is followed and all parts are correct.
  • Own implementation and improvement of KHMS MRE pillar.
  • Manage OEMs and Contractors as required for optimised asset care across assets in area of responsibility. There is the potential for several improvement activities to be taking place during the same period over multiple areas of responsibility. It will be key that these activities are coordinated effectively with safety and quality in mind.
  • The role will ensure that any risks to people and product are managed accordingly by referring to site procedures and industry standards.
  • Ensure active management of contract services is in place.
  • Raise / approve required permits for specific job tasks.
  • Own the implementation of the technical skills & people development for optimised asset care (Apprentice, Graduate & Adult) across all assets in area of responsibility.
  • Delivery of the engineering maintenance plan ensure WO are completed RFT % and sign off % Compliance is completed for all job completed on shift.
  • Support the delivery of improvement actions by active management of the weekend maintenance and aligned engineers ensure available hours of the engineers is utilised to its full extent.
  • Ensure that Stores Checkouts are maintained for all WO's completed on shift.
  • Ensure that DRA completion is driven through the weekend and aligned engineers.
  • Actively manage the labour to ensure that the engineering plan is organised in the event of sickness or absence.
  • Ensure effective handover is completed to key stakeholders following completion of any maintenance works (QRMP) and Completion of the Weekend Maintenance plan.
  • Requirement to work "on the job" to support weekend work.

Expected Experience And Required Skills

  • Ability to manage multiple engineering activities through to successful completion at the same time.
  • Good technical engineering knowledge of both Mechanical/Electrical and automation tasks to be able to make the correct decisions when activities are being undertaken.
  • Ability to stop think and act when undertaking maintenance activities to understand the impact to production over the weekend.
  • Flexible, resilient and committed with a right first‐time attitude.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels and ensure communications are clear and understood.
  • Be able to engage and motivate teams when adapting and adopting change programs.
  • Training and coaching capabilities.
  • Strong organisational and technical skills.
  • Ability to work with data and information.
  • Must be Time Served Mechanical, Electrical or Multi‐skilled Maintenance Engineer with a minimum NVQ3 or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years operating in a manufacturing environment. The job holder will have experience of working in a fast‐moving environment and liaising with various levels across multiple functions.
  • The job holder will have knowledge of and experience in applying continuous improvement tools such as PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) and problem‐solving skills including techniques such as Ishikawa & 5W1H.
  • Ideally experience of lean principles and applications.
  • Experience of CMMS. (Ideally SAP).
  • Experience of Capital investment programmes to aid driving reliability improvements.
  • Financial acumen to support optimised budget development and improvement implementation.
  • Experience in leading change management initiatives.
  • Self‐motivation, with the ability to lead and be part of a team within a fast‐moving environment is essential.
  • Experience of managing completion of major engineering works through to successful completion to required timescales to meet production demands.
  • A forward thinker who demonstrates a 'can‐do' attitude.
  • Good planning and organisational skills.
  • Has excellent communication and written skills to ensure quality reporting.
  • Strong problem‐solving skills with the tenacity and resilience to ensure new initiatives are implemented.
  • Strong analytical skills and keen attention to detail.
  • Resilience to ensure problems are followed through to resolution with a thorough close out.
  • Must be computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft office application, and specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
