Job Description
Agricultural Manager
The Agricultural Manager\’s key purpose is to direct the crop supply activities for the site. Through collaboration with other functions in the factory & wider business, these activities ensure that the crop demand plans, safety, quality & compliance requirements are all at the required standard.
The Agricultural Manager is also a member of the Factory Leadership Team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Aligned with the sanctioned crop plan, direct the contracts of growers, crop scheduling, & harvesting
- Lead the agronomy team to deliver the crop plan as per schedule
- Lead the harvest & garage team to ensure high reliability of harvest equipment & ensure harvesting activities are aligned with the factory plan
- Ensure the agronomy & harvest teams are focused on delivering yield improvements, both within the factory & in the field
- Build & maintain strong relationships with contract growers
- Strong financial management of all crop supply & harvesting cost drivers
- Ensure all compliance requirements are well understood & followed
- Champion sustainability, research & development programs
- Clear communication both internal to the factory & external to the wider business
- Active member of the factory leadership team
- Champion KHMS into agricultural practices
- Work closely with commercial to develop & support growth strategies
- Work with technical peers & industry experts (both internal & external) to support & improve agricultural practices
Education & Experience:
- Experience in commercial vegetable or arable crop production environments
- Experience of building & managing supplier relationships
- Experience of leading high performing teams
- Demonstrated ability to enact positive change & a continuous improvement mindset
- Food manufacturing factory experience is highly preferential
- Experience of management of agricultural compliance activities is preferred
- Tertiary qualifications in agricultural or horticultural science, agricultural commerce or similar
