This exciting role is within our Midlands Indirect tax team, based in our Midlands Offices. Our clients include UK headquartered businesses and inbound groups across a range of sectors. Our work in the tax advisory space includes supporting clients with business and fiscal change. This can include advising on new jurisdiction entry, the development of new business areas, business reorganisations, tax authority enquiries, pre/post transaction reorganisations, refinancing, cash repatriation, interest deductibility and the impact of global fiscal change (e.g. BEPS Pillar 2).
We work as a hybrid team where we get together in the office or at client sites at least twice a week to collaborate and learn together, with flexibility over how you spend the rest of your time.
The role:
- Working closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex projects to deliver technically excellent advice and service.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and understanding their business to build your own external network and create opportunities to help with the provision of tax and other services.
- Managing UK and cross border teams on advisory projects, liaising with specialists, overseas member firms and external advisers, critically analysing and challenging their input to deliver successful projects and expertise to our clients.
- Providing high quality Indirect Tax advisory services on a broad range of indirect tax issues to a range of corporate clients.
- Implementation of business development initiatives.
- Providing sales support, developing, building and maintaining key B2B and B2C client relationships.
- Managing aspects of the team's operations and performance, including resourcing, and coaching and developing junior team members.
- Seeking out and pursuing opportunities with clients and targets and actively participating with Partners and Directors in business development activities.
- Managing our engagement quality and risk processes and client financials.
- Being a role model for KPMG's values.
The person:
- Qualified CTA or ACA / CA or equivalent.
- UK VAT advisory experience.
- Ambitious and enthusiastic.
- Strong UK corporation tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills, curious and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
- Excellent project management skills, including ability to work as part of a team and to show initiative to drive projects forward.
