KPMG's Financial Services Tax practice is a dynamic and successful fast-growing area of our business with transformational plans to accelerate growth. Our Financial Services practice is diverse and comprises Asset Management (which includes Private Equity, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Funds), Banking and Insurance and is a dynamic and successful area of our business. That is why we work as one advisory and compliance team with specialists who focus on compliance working as a group within that team, known as the FS Compliance Hub.

We are looking for talented Managers with UK corporate tax experience to join us at this exciting time and help implement, shape, and develop the Hub as we expand and invest significantly in Financial Services tax.
In addition to delivering corporate tax compliance services there are opportunities to be involved in tax advisory work, the development of our innovative technology solutions and also to participate in client demonstrations and other aspects of business development, to keep your role varied and tailored to your interests where possible. With our technology enabled solutions our compliance specialists can focus on technical excellence, opportunity spotting and managing the compliance relationship with clients.
We are offering both full time and part time roles with flexible working arrangements which include, early or late starts to fit around other commitments, shorter working days etc. We would be happy to discuss your own requirements and our range of flexible working arrangements in more detail, should that be of interest.
The core aspects of the role are:
- Maintain a portfolio of clients and take responsibility for ensuring the tax computations are prepared to a high standard, on a timely basis and finalised and submitted to HMRC within agreed deadlines.
- Oversee the work of assistant managers, providing coaching and technical guidance as part of the overall review process.
- Work directly with the client to plan and understand the requirements at the start of each compliance cycle including potential visits to clients/local offices to ensure we use appropriate technology and resources to deliver a quality product on time.
- On more complex clients, act as the main point of liaison with the client to obtain additional information if required, feeding back to the tax computation preparers to enable them to provide an updated draft computation for subsequent review.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, preparing technical analysis and involving specialists as appropriate to prepare or review analysis.
- If desired, the role offers the opportunity to get involved in tax advisory work to help build out your expertise and experience.
- Carry out a full manager review of computations and other deliverables prior to sending to clients and HMRC.
- Working with KPMG local Financial Services teams and specialists in their field, including, for example, providing assistance in the drafting of responses to HMRC correspondence and preparing tax accounting disclosures in addition to managing risk.
- Identify opportunities and any additional services that the client may need and liaise with subject specialists.
- Follow KPMG best practice and policy.
You are well on your way in your compliance career with UK corporate tax experience and have a passion for compliance and the varied aspects of your role that this brings. You may have reached this stage in your career by various means. At KPMG, we welcome applications from those qualified by experience, as well as ATT / CTA / ACA or equivalent qualifications.
It is not a requirement to have specific Financial Services tax knowledge, but this would be desirable plus:
- Experience of manager level review of corporate tax computations and returns, including client liaison through the compliance process.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues or escalate as appropriate.
- Experience/awareness of specific technical areas including corporate streaming; offshore funds; foreign income and withholding taxes; bond funds; REITs; PAIFs; exempt dividends and corporate interest restriction.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience of managing and / or coaching junior staff, in addition to strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent teamwork, management, and organisational skills, including monitoring timetables and budgets.
At KPMG we use Alphatax as our primary compliance deliverable tool. A background in another tax software solution will come with transferable skills and transition training will be provided.
