Manager – Deal Strategy and Commercial Due Diligence (Consumer, Retail and Leisure) – The Strategy Group Base Location: London plus network of 20 offices nationally : KPMG’s Strategy Group is looking for candidates with Deal Strategy experience to help further strengthen our Strategy Consulting presence in the Deals market – across a range of sectors. This particular role is for an Associate Director with a sector focus on the Consumer, Retail & Leisure industry. However, experience outside of this sector, and in other forms of strategy consulting, may also be relevant. Our Deal Strategy proposition is delivered from within KPMG’s Strategy Group, an expanding and ambitious business unit which works across Growth, Transact and Transform situations. The Strategy Group consist of a diverse team of ~500 UK practitioners working collaboratively with capabilities from across our wider Advisory business and our international partner firms. KPMG’s Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional candidates for a Manager role, with a sector focus on the Consumer, Retail & Leisure industry and with particular experience in Deal Strategy and Commercial Due Diligence, one of our core propositions. Additional experience across our other propositions – Growth Strategy, Cost and Operational strategy (including Economic Profitability Analysis) and Enterprise-wide Transformation – will also be valuable. The Strategy & Performance Transformation team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 150 practitioners, working collaboratively with and orchestrating KPMG’s broad set of capabilities within our Advisory business What will you be doing? Act as a credible client liaison on KPMG engagements, often taking a “specialist” role with a view to develop long term client relationships; act as an \’ambassador\’ for the firm Design and run small projects and / or larger more complex workstreams – extensive experience of M&A related projects will be critical, eg Commercial DD, M&A Strategy, Value creation etc Produce client-ready deliverables that exceed expectations and require minimal review Take initiative to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex problems and deliver these within the context of the team and client requirements Design and execute detailed financial / business models performing complex scenario and sensitivity analysis; also guide junior team members to reach right-first-time output Support the practice by proactively getting involved in internal practice matters and business development initiatives, and taking responsibilities for these moving forward Be aware of and take suitable level of responsibility that the firm\’s risk management frameworks are adhered to What will you need to do it? Proven experience working in a leading strategy consulting business, Big 4 firm or strategy / Corporate Development team in industry Foundational understanding of the value drivers across the broadly defined Consumer sector: Consumer Goods, Retail & Travel & Leisure businesses but experience from other sectors may also be relevant Experience of leading workstreams and/or smaller projects: designing work plans, team structures and then managing these to excellent client output and, where relevant, strong economics This should include experience of recent M&A transactions, eg CDD, VDD, M&A Strategy or Value Creation projects in the Consumer sector Evidence involvement developing proposals, scopes and pricing for small and mid-sized consulting assignments Experience of holding supporting roles in business development activity, helping the team deliver client ready pitches and generating differentiated insights Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader stakeholders Track record of building relationships with team members, wider colleagues and clients Examples of internal responsibilities on topics like team management, technical tool insight, liaison with service suppliers etc To discuss this or wider Deal Advisory roles with our recruitment team, all you need to do is apply, create a profile, upload your CV and begin to make your mark with KPMG.
