Overview Assistant Manager, Commercial Advisory and Assurance – Planning, Scheduling and Project Controls at KPMG Major Projects Advisory (MPA) in infrastructure. The role is client-facing, requires experience in planning, scheduling and project controls on major projects and programmes, and involves delivering tailored solutions and building client relationships. Location options include London, Birmingham or Manchester with travel to client locations across the UK and occasionally overseas.

What will you be doing? This is an innovative professional role at Assistant Manager level. You will work alongside the existing team to apply your lived experience in planning, scheduling and project controls in construction to solve complex problems. You will be involved in delivering client-ready solutions, managing important client relationships, and contributing to project outcomes. Prior infrastructure experience is preferred, but candidates from other relevant fields will be considered. You will be part of a team of consultants on the ground, applying subject matter expertise to bring to life tailored solutions for clients.

What will you need to do it? We are looking for candidates with post-qualification experience in planning, scheduling and project controls related to major projects and programmes. Experience as a contractor, consultant or within a government role will be considered. Your track record should evidence the following:

  • A good, applied understanding of planning including development, update, monitoring and reporting of schedules; risk management; change control; identification of opportunities for improvement and implementation of best practice
  • Experience in major projects and programmes, ideally in infrastructure or in transport, defence, power and utilities, or nuclear sectors
  • Investigating schedule and cost performance, defining variance, causes and providing mitigating options
  • Developing tools and reports to support project controls processes
  • Risk identification and analysis
  • Project and programme performance monitoring and assurance
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships and network within the firm
  • Communication and presentation skills
  • Desire to learn and develop new skills within planning and project controls
  • Proficiency in Excel, MS Project and Oracle P6
