The Opportunity

Our Tax and Legal Learning Business Partners are the critical two-way link between the business and our Learning and Development teams. As a key member of the team, your role contributes true value to the bottom line and is recognised as essential for short and long-term strategic business planning. Your responsibilities span the employee life cycle inclusive of the talent agenda, so you are a true partner to the capability-aligned HR community. Collaboration across our operating model is a key feature of how you will deliver impactful results.

Reporting to the Senior Learning Business Partner, you will build trusted advisor relationships with senior stakeholders in your business super service lines. Using your knowledge and experience of the core learning and HR competencies, coupled with your commercial awareness, you will translate your clients’ business needs into realistic and achievable solutions that reflect the learning strategy and deliver impact. It’s a fast paced and changing environment. You will be a role model for collaboration to those around you, influencing, coaching, and challenging through accountability and quality in your work.

Responsibilities:

  • Planning
  • Building trusted advisor relationships with business stakeholders in various business areas and teams.
  • Understanding and driving implementation of a business-specific learning strategy aligned to T&L, Talent and Learning Centre of Excellence strategy.
  • Support the planning and production of an annual learning needs analysis in T&L under ISQM1, to develop an understanding of the current and future learning needs (including ongoing projects, issues, business drivers, etc.), enabling greater clarity around key issues and the development of effective L&D solutions.
  • Representing learning on relevant management committee structures within the business unit/Capability and influencing the agenda to ensure that the learning business case is fulfilled.
  • Liaising with the wider UK Learning functions and teams to maximise usage of existing content into T&L, and identify new content needs to feed into central pillars within UK Learning.
  • Working with the SLBP on the annual budget process.

Management

  • Translating the view of the business to be reflected in firmwide learning projects for design and delivery to ensure business solutions are innovative, practical and aligned to business strategy and objectives.
  • Manage deliverable learning solutions that support the evolving learning strategy for T&L, with a focus on both core technical and non-technical skills that support our tax and legal specialists and the T&L capability.
  • Identify and manage/coordinate SMEs to work within the Design & Delivery construct and ensure end products are fit for purpose within T&L and delivered within budget and timeframes.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business area to maximise participation in non-mandatory learning.

Operational excellence

  • Operate with little direct supervision in supporting business areas’ priorities with learning solutions, with demonstrable impact and through detailed management of own workflow.
  • Conduct, manage and measure the impact of learning campaigns.
  • Analyse and report on key learning data and support quality compliance under ISQM1, provide meaningful management information to the business unit/Capability for learning consumption and quality / risk purposes.
  • Measure the effectiveness of learning and support the achievement of its goals.
  • Manage external suppliers and third-party providers where relevant.
  • Ensure the learning curriculum, and wider suite of development solutions, remains relevant and is able to adapt to changing business requirements.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders, as well as central support functions in and out of T&L, operating seamlessly towards agreed, common goals.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience at manager level and have a proven track record in Business Partnering.
  • Be comfortable in dealing with the competing demands of varied and demanding stakeholders.
  • Adept at communicating, influencing, coaching, educating, challenging and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in translating identified learning needs and business needs into appropriate and effective learning solutions, creating realistic and achievable plans in collaboration with the wider learning function.
  • The ability to role model collaboration, and consult confidently, effectively and independently with senior levels of the organisation.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills to address diverse organisational stakeholders at all levels.
  • Effective project management skills, working across different stakeholders and teams.
  • Experience working in professional services in the UK, either in tax or other technical disciplines.
  • Confident facilitator, able to lead programmes with a range of audiences, from graduates to senior leaders.

We are open to talk to talent across the country but our core Central Service hubs for this role are: Watford, Birmingham. With 20 sites across the UK, we can potentially facilitate office work, working from home, flexible hours, and part-time options.
