Employment Law Services:

The Employment Law Team comprises 16 lawyers who regularly work with a wide cross-section of the KPMG client-facing business. The team undertakes a variety of work with a focus on workforce and pay compliance (including national minimum wage, holiday pay, employment status, pay gap reporting), workforce change (people aspects of restructurings including collective redundancies and TUPE transfers, changes to terms and conditions and transactional support) as well as general HR and ER advisory work including global projects.

The applicant should be a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and be prepared to work in a different way to lawyers in traditional law firms.

Experience Required:

The applicant will be an employment lawyer with a good range of experience (including an employment training seat) and 0-3 years’ PQE. The applicant must have a high level of technical knowledge with regards to the employment law of England and Wales and be able to identify and articulate key risks and consequences. Familiarity with contracts and policies, due diligence reporting and broader transactional support, redundancy/reorganisation/TUPE transfers, employment status and holiday pay would be helpful. In addition, a successful applicant will have the ability to get up to speed quickly on esoteric areas (such as national minimum wage and pay gap reporting) and be keen to continue developing his/her legal skills and engage in new areas of work.

While consulting appropriately, he/she must be able to assist with the production of high-quality draft technical advice and reports to deliver robust and appropriate legal advice and exercise sound judgement. Strong project management skills are a must.

The successful applicant will demonstrate experience of working with demanding clients across a wide spectrum of size and activities and is able to present/contribute to client meetings on specific issues. He/she must be able to demonstrate sound client relationship and budding business development skills and a keenness to develop these skills further. The successful applicant will be expected to be part of building the existing business of the team and will build peer to peer relationships.

The successful applicant will help promote the team’s work through participating in team and firm events, giving internal and external presentations and producing expert articles for publications.

With 20 sites across the UK, we can potentially facilitate office work, working from home, flexible hours, and part-time options.
