The Security Operations Centre - Assistant Manager role will provide the pivotal function of planning, designing, building, and sustaining SOC and Next-Generation SOC services, operating within the uppermost levels of Government. You will work as part of an elite team of specialists, advising government and industry clients on their largest, most complex, and highest profile strategic issues.

We are looking for an assistant manager who possesses high quality consulting skills and a record of delivering outstanding results when leading complex consulting projects focused on delivering Security Operations engagements and to support KPMG’s growth in this market.

What will you be doing?

  • Support projects, or Security Operations workstreams within a larger programme, consulting with Partners, Directors and Senior Managers where appropriate.
  • Plan and shape the delivery of engagements, including work plans, timelines, project management and resource allocations.
  • Provide input on security operations capabilities and services.
  • Build and manage relationships with clients on a daily basis.
  • Drive the development of propositions and assets, bringing a National Security perspective to them.

What will you need to do it?

  • Technical background, willingness to learn, and experience within a Security Operations Centre (SOC).
  • Understanding of SOC tools and technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Proven experience of assessing maturity, managing SOC services and delivering improvements within a SOC environment.
  • Experience bringing a technology perspective to a broad range of client issues, demonstrating how technology can be used to address problems and realise opportunities.
  • Proven ability to support the development and delivery of security operating models that enable clients to get the most from their technology estate.
  • Due to the nature of the work, it is essential for applicants to hold SC Clearance.

Skills we’d love to see/Amazing Extras:

  • Managing teams, including the ability to structure complex projects.
  • Clear record of achievement and progression in a consulting firm or in a comparable environment within industry.
  • Degree level qualified, MSc in Information Security, IT or relevant STEM subjects. Relevant cybersecurity certifications.
  • Consulting experience within a ‘Big 4’ consultancy, or mid-tier firm.

This position will largely be based within the Southwest of England, with the successful candidate required to be available for weekly site visits within this area.
