The Deal Execution team is part of KPMG’s rapidly expanding Strategy Group, which delivers value for clients by challenging conventional thinking, bringing deep industry and functional insights, and executing with investor-grade rigour. We are a diverse team of over 200 practitioners, working collaboratively with and orchestrating KPMG’s broad set of capabilities within our Advisory business, and focused on continually enhancing value for clients across the deal and economic cycle.
The People in M&A Centre of Excellence supports clients in understanding and navigating the people implications of M&A. Our work spans the full employee lifecycle – from early strategy through to execution – ensuring that people considerations are embedded in every stage of the deal. This includes assessing people-related risks and costs through HR due diligence and vendor due diligence, identifying workforce synergies and value creation opportunities, as well as advising on leadership, talent, culture and organisational design. We also support clients through integration and separation planning, employee experience design, change and communications, and complex people transitions.
This role will focus primarily on HR due diligence, people-related synergies and value creation. It will involve supporting private equity and corporate clients in identifying and assessing people-related risks, costs and opportunities in transactions. While broader deal or transformation experience is welcome, this role is particularly suited to those with strong experience in pre-deal people advisory work and with a solid analytical or data-focused background.
What will you be doing?
- HR Due Diligence – Contributing to and leading the delivery of HR due diligence and vendor due diligence reports. Reviewing key areas including pensions, compensation and benefits, TUPE, employee-related liabilities, leadership and organisational structure, compliance and HR function maturity.
- Value Creation – Supporting clients in identifying people-related cost levers and value creation opportunities, including workforce cost analysis and synergy planning.
- Client Engagement – Acting as a key point of contact for client stakeholders across specific areas of the engagement. Supporting interviews with target management and contributing to clear, commercially relevant reporting of key findings.
- Leadership and Project Management – Managing small to medium-sized teams and/or workstreams. Owning deliverables, reviewing outputs, and ensuring quality and consistency of client-facing materials. Supporting the mentoring, coaching and development of junior project team members.
- Cross-Team Collaboration – Coordinating input from reward, legal and other SME teams, and incorporating their insights into our findings and recommendations.
What will you need to do it?
- Experience working in HR due diligence, people-related M&A, or a comparable advisory or in-house transaction role.
- A strong understanding of people-related risks and issues in deals – including pensions and reward implications, HR policies, organisational structure and TUPE.
- Ability to assess complex qualitative and quantitative data, distil key risks and opportunities, and formulate recommendations for clients as part of a formal report or discursive sessions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing and delivering client-ready reports and presentations.
- Proven ability to manage workstreams, delegate effectively and lead junior team members to deliver high-quality work.
- Broader experience in integration, separation or transformational change is welcomed but not essential.
