The SAP Technology Solution Architect will be responsible for the technical design, architecture, and oversight of SAP solutions across various deployment models, including on-premise, private cloud, and public cloud environments. This role involves translating complex business requirements into robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions, ensuring adherence to architectural best practices and leveraging SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) for extensibility, integration, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical architecture design and solutioning for SAP implementations across on-premise, private cloud, and public cloud environments, ensuring alignment with client requirements, industry standards, and SAP best practices.
- Provide expert advisory on deployment models (on-premise, private cloud, public cloud), including constraints and capabilities around customization, configuration, extensibility, release management, and lifecycle management.
- Plan, lead, and facilitate Explore-phase architecture and design workshops, focusing on custom extensions, integrations, and side-by-side innovation, to define the target integration and extension architecture aligned to Clean Core principles.
- Design and implement scalable integration architectures across SAP landscapes, including S/4HANA, ECC, SuccessFactors, SAP BTP, IAM solutions, third-party platforms, and hybrid cloud environments.
- Champion Clean Core architecture principles, advising clients on the most appropriate extensibility approaches, including Key User Extensibility, SAP BTP side-by-side extensions, and RESTful ABAP Programming Model, tailored to the chosen deployment model.
- Lead AI and Generative AI solutioning discussions, guiding clients in selecting the right approach across SAP Business AI, Joule, Joule Agents, and custom AI solutions based on use case suitability, data sensitivity, scalability, and governance requirements.
- Define and enforce technical standards, security architectures, and performance optimisation strategies across SAP and BTP solutions in on-premise, private cloud, and public cloud environments.
- Conduct technical impact assessments for SAP cloud releases, continuous innovation cycles, upgrades, and AI capability enhancements, recommending mitigation strategies and design adjustments.
- Collaborate closely with functional leads, development teams, integration teams, and business stakeholders to ensure technical designs effectively support end-to-end business processes.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to architecture and delivery teams, ensuring high-quality delivery, consistency of design, and adherence to architectural standards.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience architecting and leading technology workstreams for large S/4HANA programmes (minimum of one, with two or more preferred), covering extensibility, integrations, security/IDAM, SAP BTP, automation, and AI.
- Strong capability to engage in architecture and deployment discussions with clients, including advisory on RISE and GROW with SAP, and migration approaches such as Greenfield, Brownfield, and Bluefield, to provide informed, context-driven recommendations.
- Strong cross-platform integration expertise, including SAP BTP, SAP Integration Suite, Identity and Access Management solutions, third-party platforms, and complex hybrid environments.
- Proven experience in SAP technical and solution architecture, spanning clean core principles, cloud platform limitations, and side-by-side extensibility strategies appropriate to each deployment option.
- Knowledge of cloud extensibility options through Key User Extensibility, SAP BTP side-by-side extensions, and RESTful ABAP Programming, alongside traditional ABAP development for on-premise.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical Fit-to-Standard and Explore-phase workshops with customers, covering custom extensions, integrations, security, and architectural decision-making to define the target solution and integration architecture.
Experience
- Extensive SAP technical experience, with significant time focused on SAP architecture across various deployment models.
- Completed at least 1-3 full lifecycle SAP implementations (greenfield or brownfield) or significant cloud migration projects across on-premise, private cloud, or public cloud.
- Experience in leading technical workshops and presenting complex architectural concepts to diverse audiences.
- Ability to define technical requirements and create detailed technical specifications and architectural blueprints for multi-faceted SAP landscapes.
- Strong ability to analyse technical challenges, design robust solutions, and optimise system performance across different SAP deployment models.
