The Tax Technical team is a critical enabler to all tax activities within GCT and provides expertise into KPMG's complex tax audits. Audit quality is of paramount importance and to do this efficiently, we maintain a dedicated and enthusiastic team of tax specialists. We are also the engine room of the tax reporting, compliance, governance and low‑level advisory work undertaken by the wider GCT team – servicing large domestic compliance clients as well as our Global Compliance clients.

Deep corporate tax compliance expertise:

  • Engagement leadership
  • Ad‑hoc tax advisory experience
  • Tax reporting experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience working with a diverse client base, from mid‑market to large FTSE listed groups, across public sector, real estate, financial services and other sectors

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Build and sustain lasting client relationships across a portfolio of clients and actively grow a network and range of experience to meet client needs
  • Manage and supervise the delivery of corporate tax compliance engagements and the management of compliance outsourcing contracts
  • Provide compelling and well‑thought‑out solutions to problems of moderate complexity; draft advice to clients on the tax implications of new legislation
  • Respond to client requests for ad‑hoc technical advice
  • Help clients drive efficiency through the compliance process, improve controls, and leverage technology
  • Lead on sales activities by working with senior members of the team to generate additional work opportunities for existing clients and targets, supporting proposals and propositions across functions, sectors and accounts
  • Co‑camp, coach and develop junior members of staff
  • Support clients with their group/statutory Tax Reporting needs; including delivery and project management on global outsource contracts under US GAAP and IFRS
  • Provide tax technical input for audit of tax on a mix of listed and non‑listed multinational groups

Key Recruitment Areas:

  • BEPs – help clients transform their operating model, processes, systems and data in preparation for Pillar 2
  • Managed Services – provide compliance services to global clients under a managed service arrangement
  • Technology – help clients leverage the right technology, tools and platforms to transform their tax function
  • Tax Operating Model – collaborate with clients to build and operate a leading tax function, managing risk, opportunity, reputation and compliance
  • Data Management – support client tax teams to maximize the use of data available in the organisation to effectively manage the Tax Function

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Deep working knowledge and experience of UK corporate tax legislation and compliance with a focus on large and complex groups
  • Project management/coordination skills and experience on large/global compliance outsourcing engagements or similar projects
  • Personal responsibility and accountability for own work, sustaining leadership, drive and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work
  • Ability to build co‑operative relationships and foster an environment where everyone's opinion is valued
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; communicates with impact, in an open, honest, consistent and clear way
  • Provides ongoing feedback, coaching and mentoring that supports individual development needs and career aspirations
  • Analytical ability to investigate, evaluate and integrate information to solve problems and identify core issues
  • Builds the reputation of KPMG through the quality of work, knowledge and experience; at senior manager level you will be proactive, curious, committed and invested in self‑development and learning
  • Experience with ATT/CTA/ACA or equivalent qualifications; project management qualifications such as Lean Six Sigma welcome

Area‑Specific Requirements:

  • BEPs: Tax technical skills and Pillar 2 awareness to support transformation opportunities; confident articulating Pillar 2 impact on compliance and reporting. Transformation upskilling will be provided.
  • Managed Services: Leading delivery of global or large UK tax, accounting, compliance and reporting projects. Skills in tax reporting, transfer pricing, direct/indirect tax and statutory accounting; project management of multi‑jurisdictional projects, transition and transformation experience.
  • Technology Transformation: Experience leading technology solutions projects and driving new opportunities across corporate and financial services clients. Qualified in financial and trading systems, ERP and tax technology solutions (e.g. FICO, Thomson Reuters).
  • Tax Operating Model: Broad experience designing, building and managing Tax Operating Models, including compliance and reporting services, co‑sourcing, process design and governance. Designing and implementing tax strategies and target operation models for tax functions.
  • Data Management: Deploying data‑focused solutions that enable automation. Implementation and configuration of technology; experience with Azure data lakes and similar technologies. Statutory and tax space experience helpful but not mandatory.
