The Strategy Group (part of the Deal Advisory Group) KPMG’s Strategy & Performance Transformation practice is looking for exceptional candidates for a Manager role. The role will focus on Deal Strategy within the Media industry as part of the wider Telecommunications‑Media‑Technology sector, but with scope to work on the wider range of services including Growth Strategy, Deal Strategy, Cost and Operational strategy (including Economic Profitability Analysis) and Enterprise‑wide Transformation.
What will you be doing?
- Act as a credible client liaison on KPMG engagements, often taking a “specialist” role with a view to develop long‑term client relationships; act as an ‘ambassador’ for the firm.
- Design and run small‑to‑mid‑sized projects and/or larger more complex workstreams – extensive experience of deal‑related projects will be critical, eg Commercial DD, M&A Strategy, Value creation etc.
- Produce client‑ready deliverables that exceed expectations and require minimal review.
- Take initiative to develop creative and innovative solutions to complex problems and deliver these within the context of the team and client requirements.
- Design and execute detailed financial / business models performing complex scenario and sensitivity analysis; also guide junior team members to reach right‑first‑time output.
- Act as a coach and mentor to junior team members – on and outside of projects – ensuring that they learn on the job and progress in their careers.
- Provide timely feedback and coaching to other team members.
- Take pro‑active role in thought leadership and knowledge management activities.
- Support the practice by proactively getting involved in internal practice matters and business development initiatives, and taking responsibilities for these moving forward.
- Be aware of and take suitable level of responsibility that the firm’s risk‑management frameworks are adhered to.
What will you need to do it?
- Proven experience working in a leading strategy consulting business, Big 4 firm or strategy / corporate development team in industry.
- Strong foundational understanding of the value drivers across the Media sector.
- Experience of leading workstreams and/or smaller projects: designing work plans, team structures and managing these to excellent client output and, where relevant, strong financial returns. This should include experience of recent M&A transactions, eg CDD, VDD, M&A Strategy or Value Creation projects in the Media sector.
- Evidence involvement developing proposals, scopes and pricing for small and mid‑sized consulting assignments.
- Experience of holding supporting roles in business development activity, helping the team deliver client‑ready pitches and generating differentiated insights.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with team members and broader stakeholders.
- Track record of building relationships with team members, wider colleagues and clients.
- Examples of internal responsibilities on topics like team management, technical tool insight, liaison with service suppliers etc.
