What will you be doing

  • Providing non‑contentious legal advice on a broad range of client solutions spanning some or all of the areas of construction legal advice.
  • Building relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions.
  • Project managing and driving projects to conclusion.
  • Training and mentoring more junior team members.

What you will need to do it

  • Post‑qualified experience in the construction sector, ideally working within a real estate department acting for real estate investment and/or development clients and owners with repeat activity.
  • Experience working on real estate (and infrastructure if possible but not essential) building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and other ancillary documents, including bonds and parent company guarantees.

Experience working on development funding and/or development management agreements would also be advantageous.

  • An entrepreneurial self‑starter who is excited by the opportunity to provide multi-disciplinary legal services in a different environment and manner while delivering a great service to clients.
  • Able to understand the legal solution within the wider picture and who is keen to become a more rounded business adviser.

  • A good technical lawyer with a solid knowledge of the relevant legislation and able to drive mandates forward.
  • Strong academic, technical, and personal skills are essential.
  • The ideal candidates are likely to come from law firms but candidates from competitor firms or in‑house will also be considered.
  • As this sector is known to lack diversity, KPMG is dedicated to considering diverse profiles for this role.

Why join us

  • When combined with KPMG’s market‑leading tax and deal advisory practices in this area, a multi-disciplinary offering combining corporate and real estate lawyers will be compelling to the right candidate.
  • This is an opportunity to help continue to build the construction and wider real estate practice, leveraging off the very strong real estate tax and advisory client bases.
  • KPMG can be flexible on charge‑out rates as they work a lot on fixed pricing.
  • Exposure to a global professional services firm and KPMG’s network which covers 81 jurisdictions.
