Accounting, Advisory and Assurance (AAA)
In Accounting, Advisory and Assurance (AAA) we support clients and audited entities across all sectors with technical accounting and financial reporting issues, and with meeting the assurance needs of their customers, auditors and regulators across a range of subject matter:
- Accounting Advisory Services (AAS) providing specialist technical accounting advice to non-audited entities, aligned to financial reporting objectives, commercial reality and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Assurance building on the rapid rise in regulatory and investor focus on ESG reporting including the introduction of CSRD requirements.
- Controls Assurance providing important business-to-business assurance reports such as ISAE 3402 and SOC 2.
- Transactions Assurance Group (TAG) supporting audited entities through transactions, where the historical financial information (HFI) requirements can be complex and differ according to the transaction type and the capital markets that are relevant.
Our Audit Centre of Excellence comprises the quality support and technical specialists for the audit practice. It has four focal areas:
- Department of Professional Practice (DPP) Accounting & Reporting, driving quality by advising our audit teams on the most complex technical accounting issues.
- DPP Audit team supports our auditors on technical issues, approaches and methodologies.
- US Accounting and Reporting Group (USARG) provides audit support for the engagement teams of SEC-registrants based outside the US.
- Second Line of Defence team reviews in flight audits and helps coach audit teams to plan and deliver consistently high-quality audits.
Our Real Estate Valuation Centre of Excellence is made up of a team of highly experienced real estate valuation experts who provide high quality support to the Audit business helping auditors to robustly challenge real estate estimates (fair value property valuations) in order to meet auditing standards and to help deliver on the firm's audit quality goals.
Our Pensions Centre of Excellence provides a range of specialist pensions audit services, including our industry-leading assurance services to trustees of UK occupational pension schemes, and the delivery of high-quality audits of defined benefit pensions scheme balances within corporate sponsor financial statements.
Our Audit of Tax Centre of Excellence supports audit teams in the completion of substantive tax procedures.
Our Share Based Payments Centre of Excellence supports audit teams in the end-to-end testing of share based payment arrangements.

The IT Audit team provides independent, jargon-free technical expertise to help audited entities evaluate their technology risks through specialist IT audit support. We evaluate technology controls and assess how they may present a risk of financial misstatement.
