Tax Technology & Innovation are a team of 300+ technologists providing technology enablement services and solutions across the Tax and Law business. This business has 2500+ tax & legal professionals covering multiple disciplines. The team is made up of Technology Consultants, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Data Architects & Engineers, Multi-disciplinary Engineering teams and IT Service delivery professionals working on a large portfolio of systems used to improve productivity and solve key business problems across Tax & Legal.
A key focus is working with KPMG’s Global Compliance & Transformation (‘GCT’) team to grow our managed service business, helping multinational groups manage and transform their global tax and accounting compliance and reporting requirement across multiple operating regions. Leveraging award-winning technology, we enable our clients to utilise KPMG’s compliance and transformation expertise to drive better visibility, greater efficiency and improved risk management across their organisation and responsibilities. The Assistant Manager role offers the candidate the opportunity to apply their tax and accounting skills with cutting-edge technologies, working as part of our rapidly growing Tax Technology & Innovation team (TT&I). You will work as part of a team that is at the forefront of changing an entire industry, helping our clients adapt and make the most of technological advances to better manage their tax obligations.
The Technology Implementation Assistant Manager will work on Global Compliance & Transformation projects, with responsibilities including:
- Assisting senior team members in collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to understand their unique challenges, gather and document requirements, and map out current (‘as-is’) processes.
- Logically analyse complex requirements, processes and systems to design and deliver analytics and visualisation solutions.
- Aiding in managing the design, development and implementation of KPMG and third-party data- and AI-driven technology solutions for clients, including configuration and testing to ensure functionality and alignment with business objectives.
- Supporting the delivery of multiple technology projects, in coordinating with technical teams across TT&I, identifying and mitigating project risks and issues.
- Providing support to technical and design leads throughout project lifecycles.
- Collaborate with senior staff on technology demos and sales efforts, including active participation in client meetings and workshops.
- Prepare and maintain functional and technical specification documents, user manuals and training documentation.
- Coordinating and supporting junior staff to foster growth and development.
- Help promote the use of AI and innovative technologies within the tax team.
The successful applicant will have:
- A keen interest or background in tax and reporting technology is essential, with a passion about using data to drive key business decisions.
- Experience in supporting projects or solutions delivered using agile methodologies.
- Recent experience implementing and configuring data- and AI-driven solutions to solve complex business problems.
- Expertise manipulating large data sets and experience with data analytics and visualisation technologies, ideally Power BI.
- An analytical mindset and a client-centric approach to problem solving.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to logically analyse complex requirements, processes and systems.
- Demonstrable teamwork and interpersonal skills, adept at engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders at various levels.
- An ability to work independently, knowing when to consult and doing this in a timely manner.
- Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- An ability to quickly adapt to new technologies, concepts, and modern work practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with focus on attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
May also have:
- Previous experience implementing and configuring tax technology solutions.
- An in-depth understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing.
- An understanding of the broader Microsoft ecosystem and cloud services.
- An understanding of tax and accounting with prior experience in tax or finance compliance is advantageous.
The role is full-time in Glasgow or London, with some travel required to other locations around the UK.
