Our client is looking for an Operations Manager to lead a small team and will be responsible for flexible and reliable operation of the steamâgenerating plant within an energy centre, including boilers, water treatment plant, steam compressors and ancillary equipment in line with host site requirements and site procedures, and maintaining compliance with statutory health, safety and environmental provisions.
Responsibilities
- Leading site technicians for operations, maintenance, project work and outage preparation activities
- Operating the plant to ensure compliance with appropriate safety and environmental standards, and statutory requirements including BG01
- Carrying out plantârelated routine duties to ensure plant performance, availability and reliability are maintained to a high level
- Managing the legislative maintenance activities onâsite, including ensuring that PSSR inspection requirements are undertaken, Functional Safety proof tests are carried out, Legionella management, and ensure that statutory routines are programmed and carried out in line with the maintenance plan
- Application of the safe systems of work and undertake the role of Safety Controller within Safety rules
- Planning, organising and supervising maintenance activities utilising the CMMS
- Plant and control system first line fault diagnosis and reporting
- Managing safety and emergency response plans for to COMAH regulations standard
- Liaising with internal and external parties (customers, colleagues, host site personnel, contractors and visitors to the Energy Centre) and maintaining a professional attitude and an appropriate level of communication
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum ONC/C&G or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably HNC)
- Industrial Steam Boiler operations and maintenance experience (BOAS desirable)
- Knowledge of Steam Boiler chemistry and Water Treatment Plant (Reverse osmosis)
- Knowledge of rotating plant (Pumps, Motors and Reciprocating compressors)
- Knowledge of Pressure Systems Safety Rules and functional safety standards (61511)
- Knowledge of Electrical systems and DCS/SCADA systems (Siemens Simatic/S7)
- Knowledge of CMMS (Maximo desirable)
- Management of Contractors and budgets
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage and organise heavy workloads, prioritising relevant business and client needs
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to understand and liaise with others
Desirable Qualifications
- NEBOSH Cert, IOSH Managing Safely or similar safety qualification
- 18th Edition qualifications
- Computer literacy and basic IT skills
