We are actively sourcing a proven Area Building Manager to join our internal Building Maintenance team. In this mobile role, you will report into our Head of Building Maintenance. Your geographic patch will stretch from Norfolk to Southend with the larger proportion of the patch being south of Cambridge, covering Colchester, Chelmsford, and touching on North London.
This role is principally accountable for the delivery of all building maintenance and statutory inspection services along with the collection and maintenance of all standing data held on all retail and non‑retail property within their area. Working flexibly within a wider team of Area Building Managers, your role takes accountability for building surveying and the delivery of building maintenance services directly to our frontline operations teams, with four key areas of focus:

Ensuring the company’s liquor and associated licenses are not endangered at any time. Being a building custodian, you will be responsible for the safe maintenance of company property assets, maintaining the asset to ensure it is safe, legal and protected whilst liaising with internal teams and external agencies such as EHO, Environment Agency, Fire Officers, Planning and Building Control. You will be accountable for all health, safety and welfare matters associated with your areas of activity, as well as the verification and adjustment of PPM and Compliance requirements.
Cost Management: Accountable for the management and control of the area revenue and capital budgets (c£5m) to ensure delivery to budget and best value is achieved. Adherence to the budget position is essential, adjusting spend to ensure the wider team meet agreed projection targets.
Data Management: Accountable for all building maintenance data accuracy and completeness across all internal systems.
Delivery: Have an uncompromising attitude to Health and Safety, cost, quality and programme management. Respond pro‑actively to maintenance problems and manage the relationship of key suppliers. Accountable for the safe management and delivery of all building annual inspections and maintenance projects, directing and controlling contractor activity and liaising with the Operations team to ensure completion of all required works on time and within budget.
Qualifications & Experience: Proven like‑for‑like experience within a multi‑portfolio environment, retail/hospitality sector highly desirable. Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body. A passion for delivering within your role and within the hospitality sector. High degree of maturity with a self‑driving attitude. To reside within the geographical patch outlined.
