Our client is looking for a building estates operations manager to join their team in Newcastle, reporting directly into the director of estates. In conjunction with the Chief Building Officer/Chief Engineer, the post holder will be responsible for the formulation and implementation of efficient and safe operation and maintenance of all Estates elements within the Trust.
You will provide a senior managerial role for the strategic development of Estates building and engineering elements, including capital/backlog for both short and long term.
- Attend/chair meetings; liaise with colleagues regarding operational issues.
- Participate in the out of hours "on-call" emergency service.
- Manage all Estates building and engineering staff, specialist contractors and consultants under his or her control.
- Ensure 24 hour cover for site services.
- Deputise for the Chief Building Officer/Chief Engineer as required.
- Ensure patient safety is never compromised by failure of building element/engineering service.
- Responsible to ensure all appropriate standards and specifications are adhered to and managed effectively.
- Liaise with external statutory bodies, i.e. Department of Health, NHS Estates, Building Control, Environment Agency etc.
- Provide specialist Estates advice to the Trust.
- Regularly undertake audits and equipment testing.
Requirements:
- Educated to degree level.
- Extensive post qualification experience/specialist knowledge of building structures/engineering services.
- In-depth understanding of Hospital policies and procedures and operational activities.
- Specialist knowledge of and training in hospital building and engineering structures/services gained through training and experience.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Building or engineering structures/services background.
- Significant senior management experience gained in a hospital environment.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
