The Deputy Director of Estates will contribute to the delivery and achievement of corporate objectives. Must be capable of executive decision making and taking responsibility for acting on those decisions and implementing the requirements, being individually accountable for outcomes.

  • Accountable for the provision of safe systems of work and the provision of statutory compliance relating to buildings, land, plant and equipment.
  • Focal point for the delivery of operational estates services with specific focus on the environment of care.
  • Professionally responsible and accountable for the standard, delivery, management of risk, continual monitoring and review of estate services to ensure a professional, high quality, cost effective and efficient service to meet the demands of the organisation, its staff and patients.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the corporate aims and vision of the Trust and ensure objectives are achieved.
  • Accountable for all professional aspects of the Trust's engineering and building services, taking responsibility for the design, safety, quality, technical suitability and statutory compliance with relevant government statute.
  • Provide and promote effective professional leadership to ensure the delivery of cost effective, customer orientated services to the Trust and other NHS organisations in accordance with the established service level agreements.
  • Responsible and accountable for delivery of policy development related to estates services including the implementation of legislative requirements and risk management arrangements.
  • Contribute to the review of the Trust's Estate Strategy to reflect the Trust's clinical strategy and objectives.
  • Deputise for the Director of Estates, during periods of absence or as directed across the Director's full portfolio of responsibility.

Degree in Engineering/Electrical/Mechanical preferred (Inc. Building Service Engineering). Building Surveying will be considered.

Member of relevant professional body IHEEM CIBSE MIET/CEng or actively seeking Chartership.

Significant experience operating at Senior level Deputy Director level, Head of Service within NHS Estates.

A proven track record of managing strategic and operational change, including the impact on assets, resources, services & staff and developing new ways of working.
