We’re hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a mechanical engineering business based in Stretford, Manchester. In this role, you’ll be designing bespoke components for the repair of water authority equipment, working closely with suppliers and the shopfloor to produce practical design solutions.

What’s on offer?

  • Permanent role | £43,000 - £48,000 p/a
  • Mon - Fri | 7:30am – 4pm
  • Early finish on Fridays
  • 22 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Standard pension

What will you be doing as a Mechanical Design Engineer?

  • Designing components for the repair of water authority equipment
  • Measuring existing parts to create new replacement components
  • Producing designs using SolidWorks
  • Using AutoCAD when required
  • Creating designs for laser cutting and folding
  • Working on bespoke design projects
  • Requesting and reviewing quotes from suppliers
  • Liaising with the shopfloor throughout the design and manufacturing process

What will you need?

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
  • SolidWorks experience
  • Confidence working on bespoke design projects
  • Ability to communicate with suppliers and shopfloor teams
  • AutoCAD experience (not essential)
  • HNC qualification (not essential)
