KPI Recruiting are working with a well-established transport and logistics organisation to recruit an experienced Transport Operative / Planner to join their busy operation in Birchwood, Warrington. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual with a strong transport background and previous general haulage planning experience. The role is offered on a temp-to-perm basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position following a successful temporary period.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate general haulage movements.
- Allocate jobs to drivers and vehicles.
- Monitor the transport operation throughout the shift.
- Move jobs and replan routes when required.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding jobs, routes and changes.
- Monitor driver's hours and ensure compliance with WTD regulations.
- Maintain accurate transport and administrative records.
- Use Transport Management Systems (TMS), compliance systems and customer portals.
- Keep transport systems updated with accurate job information.
- Liaise with drivers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the operation.
- Maintain strong driver engagement and communication.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to queries.
- React quickly to changes, delays and last-minute requirements.
- Work effectively under pressure within a busy transport environment.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in general haulage planning.
- Strong background within the transport industry.
- Good understanding of driver's hours and Working Time Directive (WTD).
- Experience moving jobs and replanning transport operations.
- Confident communicating with drivers and customers.
- Excellent administration and PC skills.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS).
- Familiarity with compliance systems and customer portals.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems under pressure.
- Proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
