A leading global food ingredients manufacturer is looking to appoint an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead major capital investment projects across its Ossett site and wider UK group.

The Role

As Engineering Project Manager, you will take full ownership of the capital project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required operational, quality and food-safety standards.

You will work closely with site leadership, operations, quality, engineering, health and safety teams, alongside external contractors, suppliers and OEMs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple capital projects simultaneously, ranging from smaller site improvements through to major investment programmes.
  • Manage projects from feasibility, scope development and design through procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Develop project plans, budgets, cost forecasts, equipment specifications, layouts, drawings and tender documentation.
  • Deliver engineering solutions across process, manufacturing, packaging and distribution systems, including dry blending and pneumatic conveying.
  • Manage contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers and OEMs throughout project delivery.
  • Oversee construction and installation activity, ensuring RAMS, permits and safe systems of work are in place.
  • Lead and coordinate FATs, SATs, pre-delivery inspections, commissioning and performance validation.
  • Work with production and planning teams to minimise operational disruption during project implementation.
  • Monitor budgets, manage change control, track spend and report against ROI and approved business cases.
  • Ensure projects comply with CDM Regulations, PUWER, DSEAR, ATEX, COSHH, LEV and machinery compliance requirements.
  • Produce clear project reports covering progress, milestones, risks, costs and delivery performance.
  • Maintain complete, audit-ready project documentation including specifications, FAT/SAT protocols, training records, O&M manuals, certifications and as-built information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve capacity, productivity, reliability, safety and manufacturing technology.

About You

You will be an experienced Engineering Project Manager with a strong manufacturing or process engineering background. You will be comfortable managing substantial capital projects and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the business.

You will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience delivering engineering or capital projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing projects from concept through to installation, commissioning and handover.
  • Strong understanding of equipment specification, procurement, contractor management and construction activity.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, including project budgeting, cost control and change management.
  • Strong knowledge of UK engineering, health and safety and compliance legislation.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders and project deadlines.
  • Clear communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Desirable Experience

  • Food manufacturing, bakery, ingredients, coatings, seasonings or dry-blending environments.
  • PRINCE2, PMP or another recognised project management qualification.
  • Automation, electrical control systems or process-control exposure.
  • ATEX/DSEAR environments.
  • MRP or ERP systems.
  • BRCGS or similarly regulated manufacturing standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Engineering Project Manager to join a well-established international manufacturer and make a genuine impact through major site and group-wide investment projects.
