Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to join our growing LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation) business. The role will involve managing full lifecycle mechanical and LEV projects, from initial design and client engagement through to installation, commissioning, and handover. Based out of Northampton, the role requires regular travel to sites across the UK, attending surveys, progress meetings, and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project & Engineering: Manage full lifecycle LEV and mechanical projects, from concept through to completion. Produce and review LEV system designs, layouts, and technical documentation. Carry out site surveys, feasibility studies, and design assessments. Ensure systems comply with COSHH, HSG258, and relevant British Standards.
- Site & Client Interface: Attend UK-wide sites for surveys, installations, inspections, and commissioning. Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients and contractors. Chair and attend project meetings and site progress reviews. Ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Commercial & Delivery: Support project costing, quotations, and variations. Manage subcontractors and installation teams. Monitor project progress, quality, and compliance. Prepare handover documentation, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings.
- Health, Safety & Quality: Ensure compliance with company H&S procedures and CDM regulations. Conduct risk assessments and method statements (RAMS). Promote best practice and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Essential: Proven experience as a Mechanical or Project Engineer. Strong knowledge of LEV systems and mechanical ventilation. Experience delivering projects from design to completion. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. Willingness to travel and attend sites across the UK. Full UK driving licence.
- Desirable: Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent). Experience working within industrial or manufacturing environments. Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design software. LEV testing or commissioning experience.
