Mechanical Technician High Peak | 50k + | Monday-Friday | 8:00am-5:00pm | Early Friday Finish | 1 in 4 On-Call A well-established manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Technician to join its site engineering team. This is a great opportunity for a strong mechanically biased engineer who enjoys being hands-on but can also provide guidance and support to others. You'll play a key role in maintaining plant reliability, responding to breakdowns and planned maintenance, while helping to develop less experienced engineers within the team. We're looking for someone confident, technically strong and comfortable taking ownership - someone who can help coordinate workloads, offer technical guidance and keep things moving when required. The Role As Mechanical Technician, you'll be responsible for delivering planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across a busy manufacturing site, ensuring equipment remains safe, reliable and available for production. You'll work closely with the wider engineering and production teams, supporting day-to-day maintenance activity as well as identifying opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency. Key responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical faults across production machinery and equipment Supporting the allocation and coordination of maintenance jobs across the team Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers Working closely with production teams to support site performance and production KPIs Identifying recurring faults and implementing long-term engineering solutions Supporting condition monitoring and preventative maintenance activities Working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems Maintaining pumps, bearings, mechanical seals and lubrication systems Carrying out laser alignment and precision mechanical fitting Using CMMS systems to record and manage maintenance activity Supporting building and facilities maintenance where required Ensuring all work is completed in line with site health, safety and environmental procedures including LOTO, PTW and risk assessments Supporting spare parts and maintenance cost control What we're looking for This role would suit an experienced Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineer or senior mechanically biased maintenance professional who is confident working independently while supporting the wider team. You'll ideally have experience across areas such as: HNC in Mechanical Engineering   Heavy Industrial Mechanical fault finding within a manufacturing or industrial environment Pumps including centrifugal, mono and multistage systems Bearings, mechanical seals and lubrication systems Hydraulics and pneumatics Laser alignment Bench fitting Safe lifting and mechanical handling Condition monitoring and interpretation of findings Hand, power and precision measuring equipment CMMS systems SOP and risk assessment development Mechanical maintenance best practice You'll also need to be a confident communicator, comfortable giving guidance, helping distribute workloads and supporting the development of less experienced members of the engineering team.
