KPI Recruiting are working in partnership with an established and growing organisation to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant. This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified (or part-qualified) finance professional to join a successful business based in Appley Bridge, taking ownership of statutory reporting, regulatory compliance and financial accounting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with UK accounting and tax legislation, supporting external audits, and working closely with the wider finance function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial & Statutory Reporting
    • Manage the day-to-day accounting, month-end close and Group reporting.
    • Prepare and submit statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Companies House requirements.
    • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and resolving any discrepancies.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance
    • Manage all aspects of corporation tax compliance, including calculations, returns and liaison with HMRC.
    • Prepare and submit VAT returns, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
    • Keep up to date with changes in accounting standards and tax legislation, implementing any necessary updates.
    • Assist with additional regulatory reporting requirements, including National Statistics submissions, environmental reporting and other statutory returns.
  • Financial Control & Business Support
    • Liaise with external auditors, providing accurate information and support throughout the audit process.
    • Oversee the sales rebate programme, validating rebate settlements and monitoring the associated balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Work closely with the wider finance team, providing guidance and support where required.
    • Provide technical support and guidance on statutory and regulatory matters.
    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
Skills & Experience Required
  • Essential
    • ACA or ACCA qualified or part-qualified accountant.
    • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including UK GAAP (FRS 102).
    • Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing financial reporting processes.
    • Knowledge of corporation tax and VAT compliance.
    • Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Desirable
    • Experience using JDE Oracle or a similar ERP system.
    • Previous experience working within a shared service environment.
