About the Company

We are a leading food manufacturing business based in Wrexham, producing high-quality products for major retailers and food service partners. Due to continued growth and investment, we are seeking a talented Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team.

Role Overview

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving a wide range of production machinery and site services within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You will work closely with operations to minimise downtime, ensure equipment reliability, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on production equipment, packaging machinery, and site utilities.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults, ensuring safe and efficient resolution.
  • Support breakdown recovery to minimise production downtime.
  • Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment.
  • Work to food industry compliance standards including hygiene, safety, and audit requirements.
  • Complete maintenance documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support smooth factory operation.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Time-served engineer with relevant qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent in Engineering).
  • Multi-skilled with both electrical and mechanical competency (e.g., motors, conveyors, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLC fault-finding).
  • Experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
  • Understanding of health & safety, food safety, and engineering best practice.
