Our client, one of the UK's leading privately owned civil engineering contractors, is looking to recruit an Estimator to strengthen their established pre-construction team.

Operating across the water, transport, energy and built environment sectors, they work in long-term partnerships with major utility providers and blue-chip clients.

The Role
As an Estimator, you'll become part of an experienced and collaborative estimating team responsible for securing major civil engineering projects within the water sector.
Working alongside Bid Managers, Procurement, Business Development and Planning teams, you'll prepare competitive and commercially sound tenders while helping develop winning solutions for clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documentation including PQQs and ITTs
- Measure and assess Bills of Quantities (Bo Qs)
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates
- Develop pricing assumptions, risk registers and opportunity registers
- Work closely with Bid Managers and Planning teams to establish construction methodology
- Liaise with Procurement throughout the tender process
- Prepare and present estimates during internal adjudication meetings
- Support commercial negotiations where required
- Deliver detailed handovers to operational delivery teams following contract award
- Provide ongoing estimating support throughout project delivery
About You
You'll ideally have experience estimating or delivering civil engineering projects within one or more of the following sectors:
- Water
- Pipelines
- Tunnelling
- Shafts
- MEICA
- Rail Civils
- Groundworks
You’ll also have
- Strong understanding of construction methods and resource requirements
- Experience producing detailed tender build-ups
- Good commercial awareness
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience using estimating software
- A confident and collaborative approach
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional qualification.
