The Role

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support across a range of subjects, working closely with teachers to raise attainment, improve engagement, and promote positive learning behaviours. You will support students both in lessons and through targeted interventions, helping them overcome barriers to learning and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group intervention sessions.
  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs, including those requiring additional academic support.
  • Promote positive behaviour and encourage active participation in lessons.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Help create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment activities and school events where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements

  • A minimum 2:1 Bachelor's degree in any subject.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, proactive, and adaptable approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Previous experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
  • An interest in progressing into teacher training or a long-term career within education.
