We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established educational trust in Staffordshire for a reliable and hardworking Caretaker to join their facilities team. Working closely with the Business Manager and Estates Lead, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors across the site. Working Monday- Friday, 07:00-12:00, this is a temporary ongoing role. Valid, Enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities- Security & Safety
- Opening and securing the premises, including locking/unlocking doors and operating the intruder alarm system
- Monitoring CCTV, checking visitor ID, and managing contractor and utility company access
- Responding to emergency situations and participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota as required
- Acting as a Fire Marshall and nominated First Aider (training provided)
- Maintenance & Cleaning
- Carrying out general repairs, planned maintenance, and PAT testing
- Replacing minor fittings including bulbs, fuses, tubes, and starters
- Attending to spillages, stains, and emergency cleaning as required
- Keeping all internal and external areas clean, litter-free, and safe, including grounds maintenance and gritting in adverse weather
- Caretaking & General Duties
- Setting up and clearing furniture and equipment for internal and external events
- Distributing parcels and carrying out porterage duties across the site
- Monitoring and replenishing consumable stocks
- Driving site vehicles and carrying out vehicle checks as required
- Undertaking minor joinery, plumbing, and decorating repairs as directed
- Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience desirable
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling and working at height
- Flexible and reliable — willing to work a rota including evenings and weekends
- Good working knowledge of health and safety practices
- First Aid and Fire Marshall certification advantageous (training available)
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory
