Training structure
4+1 Model: Train four days a week in school, with one day (Wednesdays) reserved for online PGCE study and professional development.
Sept–Dec: Observe lessons, team-teach with your mentor, build confidence
Jan–Mar: Lead planning and delivery of lessons, develop assessment strategies
Apr–Jul: Teach independently, refine your classroom management, complete your PGCE + QTS
What you’ll need
- A degree in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, or a related STEM field (2:1 or higher preferred) OR strong A-level Maths, Physics, or Chemistry
- Passion for STEM and education
- Excellent communication and organisation skills
- Commitment to learning and developing as a teacher
- A driving licence is helpful but not essential – Carlisle has strong transport links
