This Is About Academic Impact

As a School-Based Graduate Tutor, your focus will be simple: help students make measurable academic progress. You’ll work with pupils who have the potential to achieve more but may need additional explanation, encouragement or challenge to get there. Depending on your academic specialism, you could deliver targeted tuition in English, Maths, Science, Humanities or another curriculum area. You might spend your morning working with a small group of GCSE students on examination technique, provide individual mentoring to a pupil struggling with confidence and then support an intervention session designed to push high-achieving students towards Grades 7-9. This is far more than simply observing lessons - you’ll have the opportunity to build relationships with pupils and see the impact of your support over the course of the year.

An Excellent Environment for Ambitious Graduates

The school offers a welcoming but academically ambitious environment where high expectations, excellent teaching and pupil development sit at the heart of its approach. Teachers are keen to work alongside graduates who bring strong subject knowledge and fresh enthusiasm into the school. For graduates considering teaching, you’ll also gain invaluable exposure to lesson planning, assessment, behaviour management, safeguarding and the day-to-day realities of working in education.

Who Are We Looking For?

We’re particularly interested in graduates who have achieved a 2:1 or First-Class degree and have a strong academic background. You don’t need to have already worked in a school. What matters is that you’re intelligent, articulate, reliable and capable of communicating ideas clearly to young people. Perhaps you’re considering teacher training but aren’t ready to commit. Maybe you simply want a graduate role with more meaning and responsibility. Either way, a year as a School-Based Graduate Tutor could be an outstanding first step.
