We are currently recruiting on behalf of a highly prestigious independent secondary school based in the Richmond area of London for an experienced and exceptionally strong SENCO to join the school from September 2026. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-established, high-achieving independent school recognised for its academic excellence, exceptional pastoral standards, and strong reputation across the private education sector.

Due to the calibre and expectations of the school, this position requires an experienced SEN professional with a proven background leading SEND provision within a secondary school environment. The school is seeking a candidate who can confidently oversee and develop a high-quality SEND strategy while maintaining the exceptional standards expected within an elite independent setting.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring all pupils receive the tailored support required to achieve both academically and personally. You will work closely with senior leadership, teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to deliver outstanding outcomes for students.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a SENCO within a secondary school is essential
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) qualification is essential or candidates must be significantly progressed towards completion
  • Strong academic background and excellent understanding of SEND legislation, EHCPs, and intervention strategies
  • Demonstrable leadership experience managing SEND provision to a high standard
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience within independent or high-performing schools is highly desirable
  • Candidates must hold the Right to Work in the UK
