Do you have a psychology degree or strong interest in child development and behaviour? Are you passionate about supporting young children’s learning and wellbeing in an inner‑city primary setting? We are looking for a caring and committed Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a vibrant primary school community in Southwark. This hands‑on role offers you the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of primary‑aged pupils by supporting their academic, social and emotional development.

This primary setting has high expectations for pupils’ learning and behaviour, and values inclusion, respect and community engagement. The curriculum is broad, balanced and knowledge‑rich, designed to build strong foundations in reading, writing, maths and wider subjects — and to develop children into confident, curious and resilient learners. Pupils are encouraged to make connections in their learning and to apply their skills across a range of curriculum areas, including creative topics and project work that makes learning memorable.

About the role

You will work alongside experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils access the full curriculum and thrive in school. Your duties will include:

  • Working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils to support learning and behaviour
  • Assisting children with additional needs and those with SEND
  • Supporting pupils to access literacy, numeracy and broader curriculum activities
  • Promoting positive behaviour, self‑regulation and engagement
  • Helping to create a supportive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Collaborating closely with class teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams

This role is ideal if you are interested in educational psychology, child development, behaviour support or future training in teaching. It offers valuable experience working with primary‑aged pupils and insight into how an ambitious primary curriculum supports social and academic progress.

Why this role matters

  • Strong curriculum that builds knowledge progressively and supports vocabulary development across all subjects
  • Positive and inclusive environment where each child is supported to reach their potential
  • Commitment to developing pupils’ emotional and social skills alongside academic knowledge
  • High expectations for behaviour and learning, underpinned by shared values such as respect, responsibility and kindness

If you’re looking for a rewarding opportunity to support young learners and apply your psychology knowledge in an educational setting, this could be the perfect next step in your career. Send your CV and a cover letter to KPI Education to apply.
