We have ongoing opportunities for experienced Care Home Chefs to work within care home settings across Northampton and the surrounding areas.
Whether you're looking for a few shifts each week or full-time/temporary work, we have regular assignments to suit your availability.
This is a rewarding opportunity for chefs who enjoy preparing fresh, nutritious meals and understand the important role food plays in residents' wellbeing and daily experience.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality meals while ensuring all dietary requirements, food safety procedures and quality standards are met.
Working across a variety of care homes, you'll need to adapt quickly to different kitchen environments while maintaining excellent standards of food preparation and service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook and present fresh, nutritious meals for residents.
- Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in line with service requirements.
- Cater for a range of dietary needs, including allergies, diabetic diets, vegetarian, vegan and texture-modified meals.
- Ensure meals are well presented and tailored to residents' preferences wherever possible.
- Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment.
- Complete daily food safety checks, including temperature monitoring and kitchen records.
- Follow HACCP procedures and ensure compliance with food hygiene regulations.
- Store food, ingredients and cleaning products safely and correctly.
- Follow all company policies relating to Health & Safety, infection control and safeguarding.
- Adapt confidently to different kitchen teams and working environments.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have
- Enhanced DBS
- Previous experience as a
Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, Head Chef, Chef or Cook .
- Experience working in care homes, healthcare, education, hospitality or other high-volume catering environments.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and food safety standards.
- Experience preparing meals for larger groups.
- An understanding of the nutritional requirements of older people.
- Experience catering for specialist dietary requirements and allergies.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure.
- A flexible and reliable approach to temporary and agency work.
