How the training works:

  • You’ll spend four days a week in school across the Burnley area, with Wednesdays set aside for online study and professional development.
  • September – December: Observe lessons, team-teach alongside your mentor, and build your confidence in the classroom.
  • January – March: Take the lead on planning and delivering lessons, and begin developing your assessment strategies.
  • April – July: Teach independently, refine your classroom management, and complete your PGCE and QTS.

What you’ll need:

  • A degree in Spanish, French, or a closely related Modern Foreign Language (2:1 or above preferred) — or strong A-level Spanish or French
  • A genuine passion for languages and for teaching
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Burnley is well connected by road and rail — a driving licence is helpful but not essential.
