About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our maintenance team at a busy paper mill in Milnthorpe. This is a days-based role operating on a varied shift pattern, including weekend working, supporting the continuous operation of a high-volume production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across all mechanical systems
- Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Diagnose faults and perform repairs on a wide range of plant equipment
- Work on pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, rollers, and hydraulic systems
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and reliability projects
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health & safety regulations
Shift Pattern
- Days-based role with a rotating shift pattern
- Includes weekend working as part of the roster
- Flexibility required to support operational demands
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment (paper mill experience desirable)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with rotating equipment and mechanical systems
- Good understanding of health & safety procedures
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
