A welcoming and inclusive infant school in Manchester is looking to appoint an experienced Pastoral Support Officer to play a key role in improving attendance, strengthening family engagement, and supporting pupils with additional social, emotional and behavioural needs. Salary: 24,******,000 (depending on experience)
Contract: Term time only (39 weeks)

The Role:
You will be instrumental in promoting positive attendance, safeguarding vulnerable pupils, and working in partnership with families and external professionals. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on pastoral care.
Key duties include:
- Monitoring, analysing, and improving attendance and punctuality
- Leading first-day response procedures and conducting home visits where required
- Meeting with parents/carers to address attendance and wellbeing concerns
- Working alongside external agencies and the Local Authority
- Supporting children presenting with SEMH and complex behavioural needs
- Acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Managing safeguarding referrals and maintaining accurate electronic records
- Contributing to multi-agency meetings
- Supporting children in crisis and delivering targeted emotional interventions
- Supporting cared-for children and tracking progress targets
- Promoting a nurturing, safe school culture
You will also contribute to wider school life, including supporting at lunchtimes and on educational visits where necessary.
About You:

Essential requirements:
- HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience supporting children with SEMH, SEND, or complex needs
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence managing concerns
- Experience working directly with families
- Resilient, calm, and solution-driven mindset
Desirable:
- Postgraduate study in Educational Psychology or a related field
- Early Years or infant school experience
- Experience implementing attendance strategies and interventions
