A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Brent is seeking a dedicated Graduate Year Leader to join their pastoral team from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate who wants to develop practical experience within a secondary school while building the skills needed for a future career in teaching, pastoral leadership, youth work or education.
The Role
As a Graduate Year Leader, you will support a specific year group and work closely with the Head of Year and wider pastoral team to ensure students are supported both academically and personally.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Β£25,000-Β£30,000 per annum salary.
- Working closely with the Head of Year to monitor attendance, punctuality, behaviour and student progress.
- Acting as a trusted point of contact for students experiencing academic, pastoral or personal challenges.
- Supporting students to develop positive behaviour, attitudes and learning habits.
- Delivering mentoring sessions, assemblies and wider pastoral activities.
- Building positive and professional relationships with students.
- Communicating with parents, teachers, senior leaders and external agencies where appropriate.
- Supporting the school's behaviour and safeguarding procedures.
- Helping identify students who may require additional support or intervention.
- Contributing to the wider pastoral life of the school.
Candidate Profile
The ideal Graduate Year Leader will be:
- Educated to degree level, with a 2:1 or above preferred.
- Confident, organised and emotionally intelligent.
- Passionate about supporting the development and wellbeing of young people.
- A strong communicator who can build positive relationships.
- Calm, professional and resilient when dealing with challenging situations.
- Committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for students.
- Ideally experienced in working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, youth work, sports, schools or similar settings.
- Interested in developing a long-term career within education.
- Motivated to develop their skills in pastoral care, behaviour, safeguarding and leadership.
