A qualified Food Technology Teacher is sought for a full-time, permanent position in a specialist therapeutic setting in East London. The role involves working with pupils across KS2–KS4 who require a personalised, supportive approach to education, particularly those with autism, SEMH, and other neurodiverse needs.
The successful candidate will lead on Food Technology, delivering engaging, practical lessons that help students develop key life skills such as nutrition, food preparation, and independence. Responsibilities include:
- Delivering high-quality Food Technology lessons across KS2–KS4
- Planning and differentiating for a range of SEN needs
- Developing schemes of work and practical curriculum projects
- Supporting EHCP targets and pupil re-engagement
- Creating a safe, structured environment in line with health & safety
- Promoting nutrition, food skills, and real-life application
- Supporting emotional regulation and behaviour as communication
- Working collaboratively with support staff
- Tracking and reporting on pupil progress
The ideal candidate will hold QTS or QTLS with a Food Technology specialism, have experience in SEN, particularly with autism and/or SEMH, and understand barriers to mainstream education. They should be calm, resilient, relationship-focused, and able to confidently differentiate practical lessons.
